A mild steel checker plate can also be referred to as a floor plate. It’s a hot-rolled structural steel floor plate with an even distribution and raised pattern that’s integral to the product. The raised pattern provides extra grip and an anti-slip surface to prevent accidents or falls.

This is why checker plates are commonly used for walkways, stair treads, stair landings, platforms, the inside of commercial vans and protecting walls. It can also be used in industrial shopfitting and the application of interior design.

Thanks to its good weldability, formability and its excellent machinability, the S275JR grade is among the most popular types of mild steel checker plates. The composition of the checker plate and its shape means it’s great for cutting, drilling and welding.
